“Revolution” by George Barna Post # 1

"The Revolutionary mind-set is simple: Do whatever it takes to get closer to God and help others to do the same. Obliterate any obstacle that prevents you from honouring God with the every breath you take. Be such an outstanding example of the Christian faith that no one will question your heart or lifestyle - except those who see institutional survival as equally or more important than the alleged influence of the institution they defend.

Or, put more succinctly, the Revolution is about recognising that we are not called to go to church. We are called to be the church."

Having been a church goer for the past forty years I can fully agree with the first few chapters of this book. If church is about defending the institution and the ways of the institution then we have got it all wrong. The church is meant to make a radical difference in the world the community and this is not accomplished by defending mans interpretation of the church over the years but by living a different lifestyle as individuals making sure that what we do makes a difference in the lives of people introducing them to Jesus and the Kingdom of God.

  1. So true! We have turned the word church into stone chapels and temporal place the decays instead of realizing the meeting together is just a manifestation of the church, not CHURCH itself. Great post
